Joella’s Hot Chicken was established in Louisville, Kentucky back in 2015. They offer chicken in many different ways: Giant chicken tenders, huge chicken wings, and chicken and waffles. “The best part of ordering has to be picking your sauce. There are six that you can choose from and they get hotter as you go up the list.” Customers can also choose their heat level from no heat, sweet or mild, all the way to the need to sign a waiver to eat the dish. Their prize sauce is called “Fire-In-Da-Hole” and is so hot that customers literally have to sign a waiver to even eat it! The main source of the sauce heat comes from one of the spiciest peppers in the world, the Carolina Reaper! The Carolina Reaper has a Scoville Heat Unit of 2 million! To put that in perspective, a typical jalapeno pepper is between 2500 – 8000 Scoville Heat Units.
